Abaya Care Guide – Daily Shall
At Daily Shall, we work with a thoughtfully curated selection of fabrics—from lightweight weaves to rich embroideries. To maintain the beauty and longevity of your abaya, we recommend following the care instructions below.
General Guidelines:
- Use a mild, fabric-safe detergent suitable for delicate materials.
- Do not use bleach, fabric softeners, or tumble dryers.
Washing Methods:
• Dry Cleaning
Ideal for delicate or embellished abayas. When unsure about the fabric’s tolerance, professional dry cleaning is the safest option.
• Gentle Machine Wash
- Turn the abaya inside out before washing.
- Use cold water and the gentlest cycle available (e.g., “Delicate” or “Hand Wash”).
- Remove the garment immediately after the cycle ends and lay it flat to dry in the shade.
• Hand Wash
- Gently wash the abaya in cold water.
- Lightly rub any soiled areas using your fingertips only.
- Rinse thoroughly, then lay flat on a clean surface to air dry, away from direct sunlight.
Steaming and Ironing:
- Steam or iron the abaya from the inside to prevent shine or color change.
- Use low heat settings and avoid direct contact with high heat.
- For Japanese washed silk, keep the steamer nozzle at least 10–15 cm away from the fabric. Steam from the reverse side or through a light cloth barrier to prevent fabric damage.
Care for Japanese Washed Silk:
- Hand wash only in cold or lukewarm water using a mild detergent.
- Do not rub or wring the fabric. Rinse gently and press water out using a clean towel.
- Lay flat to dry in a well-ventilated, shaded area.
- For wrinkles, follow the steaming instructions above with special care.
Special Fabric Notes:
• Abayas with Stretch Details
Must be hand washed gently—no wringing or scrubbing. Soak briefly in lukewarm water. For stubborn stains, dry cleaning is recommended.
• Velvet Abayas
Should not be washed with water. Gently wipe the outer surface with a soft, dry cotton cloth. For full cleaning, use cold dry cleaning through a professional service.
